Pure Contour Examples of the Nose
Here are two examples of pure contour nose drawings. I did them literally minutes before I built this page. It's always amazing to me how well this technique works for dropping me right into R-mode. And they'l do the same for you - if you do the exercises.
Nose Pure Contour Example #1
If you feel like I'm leading you through all sorts of tangents getting to caricatures, you're' right. I mean that with no disrespect at all. I want you to really nail down these skills. They will make you a better all around artist. And when it comes to drawing caricatures, you need to have these skills second nature - and if you stick with me, you will!
Nose Pure Contour Example #2
As I did these drawings, I noticed how much detail there was in even a quick sketch - the little unsteady lines, the sharp edges, the texture of the pencil. All these details will come clear to you as you slow down, as you settle into the assignment. It's a simple pleasure. (To me these look more like drawings of some rocky outcropping, anything but a nose.)
