Howdy all,
It's Memorial weekend here in the USA - big Holiday! Marks the beginning of
Summer. And what does summer have to do with today's subject? Absolutely
nothing that I can think of other than he spent a lot of time in California and
it seems like back in the Midwest, California represented the epitome of Summer.
So there it is: Hearst, Calafornia, Summer! It all fits now.
I've included a link to the picture below - I got the original picture out of the May
17th edition of The New York Book Review (TNYBR). TNYBR is also home of
David Levine - one of THEE caricature masters of cross hatching. (A great artist to
study.)
I had seen never the miniature (thumbnail) photo before and I see where I could
have deepened the shadows along side the nose, but I'm still quite happy with
the results. So enjoy, and have a great and safe Holiday all of you stateside,
and to everyone else too. Keep on drawing!
Warmly,
Jeff
